Greetings!
Here is a concise overview of activities done by the students in the month of August 2021.
Recapitulation of previously covered themes

• Our theme ‘growth’ was aptly introduced wherein the children learnt that all living things grow, change, and reproduce, be it plants, animals, insects or human beings and that they all have a life cycle. 
• The life cycles of a mosquito, a frog, a duck, a human and a butterfly were explained in an elaborate manner.  In order to enhance their learning, the children were also taken for a virtual tour to Cambridge butterfly Park. 
• Children were also briefed and familiarized with various kinds of useful and harmful insects. Interesting facts about insects were shared through PPTs.
• They thoroughly enjoyed making crafts of the honey bee, the duck and also depicted the life cycle of a butterfly. These activities infused learning with interest. 
• Concept of the ‘food chain’ was introduced to the children through a story. Later, they were asked to draw a food chain of their choice and color it.

Universal Value- ‘I am Respectful’ 
Children were explained the significance of the Universal Value – ‘I am Respectful’. Children were briefed on the use of magic words (Please, May I, Sorry, Thank you) during the Rapport Building sessions. The educator instilled the virtue of respect in the kids through discussions and some examples like appreciating children for patiently waiting for their turn, listening to their peers etc.

Naturalistic Intelligence

• SDG 6-Clean water and sanitation: The educator briefed the children on the importance of water. The ways to conserve water were also discussed later. 

• The children were explained the significance of Independence Day. The educator also introduced the National Symbols of India to them. Later, they made free hand drawings of the national symbols.

Verbal Linguistic Intelligence–English
Listening, speaking, reading and writing are four key skills of every language.
Children were recapitulated the phonic sound of letters a-p through jolly phonic
song. They were introduced to the letters Nn- Pp along with their formations
and their related vocabulary words. Children were also exposed to few new
sight words which helped to promote reading comprehension. They practiced
reading and writing of CVC words of ‘at’,’an’,’ap’,’ad’ family in their notebook and reader book.

Verbal Linguistic Intelligence–Hindi

भाषा विकास एक मजबूत संचार प्रक्रिया की नींव रखता है । इसलिए छात्रों ने भाषाई कौशल को बढ़ाने के लिए नए स्वर इ, ई, ऋ और स्वरगीत के माध्यम से अपनी शब्दावली को बढ़ाया I उन्होंने इन स्वरों को लिखने का अभ्यास किया और संबंधित शब्दावली चित्र बनाने भी सीखे ।

Logical Mathematical Intelligence

• Children’s future understanding of mathematics requires an early foundation based on a high-quality, challenging, and accessible mathematics education. Keeping this in mind, oral counting and writing practice of numbers from 1 to 70 according to their place value was practiced. 

• The concept of ‘what comes after and in between’ through a number line was introduced and recapitulated.
• They were introduced to backward counting from 20-1 using number cards and through videos.
• Children were introduced to the shape ‘diamond’ through a discussion on the features of the shape with the help of a power point presentation  and later by making freehand drawing of kite flying scene in their notebooks.
• Children revisited the number names from ‘One to Four’.
• They were also introduced to the number name ‘Five’ through a video and practiced writing the same in the notebook.

Visual-Spatial Intelligence 
Art is a creative therapy that uses all disciplines of art; visual movements,
imagination skills, aesthetic skills and finger dexterity. Children explored their
aesthetic skills with the help of various coloring and craft activities such as:

• In the first-week, children enjoyed making a ‘Nest Craft’ related to letter ‘Nn’ and also the concept of non-living things.
• In the second-week, children prepared the ‘honeybee craft’ related to the concept of ‘useful insects’.
• In the third week, children made a ‘duck craft’ while recapitulating the life cycle of a duck.

• In the fourth week, children made a ‘flute’ for the occasion of ‘Janamashtami’.

Musical Intelligence
Musical intelligence helps to improve the brainpower, the development of social skills and it has been scientifically proven that music has advantages and health benefits.

Indian Music
Children welcomed each other through the welcome song and practiced singing the song देश मेरेदेश’on the eve of Independence Day and ‘अरेरेरे कृष्णा! on the occasion of Krishna Janamashtami in Indian music.

Western Music 
Children learned the song ’Praise him’ to the tunes of a guitar.

Dance 
Dance is a way for kids to express their creativity, imagination, and emotions. During the month, the children did warmup exercises and danced to the tunes of the ‘Jai Ho song’ and ‘It’s a Dance party everybody make your body dance song’.

Bodily Kinaesthetic Intelligence 
Bodily-kinaesthetic Intelligence refers to a child’s ability to process information physically through body movement, control, and expression. Star war exercises and different yoga poses (tree pose, warrior pose, butterfly pose, etc.) were attempted by the students in the first week followed up by pom-pom/handkerchief exercises to develop hand coordination in the second week. During the third week, kids enjoyed power-packed workouts (windmill, punches, high knee jacks, ski hops, etc.) to build stamina and strength. In the last week, warmup exercises using their favorite soft toys were performed.

Drama
Role activities in drama help develop the empathy skills of the child. They also develop the expression and control of feelings, motivate undiscovered feelings, and sometimes help in discharging negative feelings. Taking part in activities increases the self- confidence of the child as well. Keeping this view in mind, the educator narrated the story of ‘The Lion and the Ox’ and ‘The Magical Cap’ this month with appropriate expressions and voice modulation.

Storytelling
When children are old enough to talk, they’re old enough to try telling a story. As children become more comfortable with storytelling, it’s fun to introduce more structured storytelling activities and games. ‘Apple plant life cycle 'activity was the first story activity performed this month with the children reiterating the importance of plants and trees around us, followed by the story of a ‘Friend’, which beautifully depicted the friendship between a cloud and a river. In the third week, an activity related to reading and writing of sight words was carried out with the children to enhance their vocabulary and reading skills.

Interpersonal Intelligence
Birthday celebration & other Events​

Birthday Celebrations -It gives immense joy to our little ones to be a part of birthday celebrations. They are excited to celebrate their special day with their classmates and teachers. Keeping up the spirit, birthdays of KG children born in the month of August were virtually celebrated on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021. The theme for the celebration was ‘Different Types of Insects’. Children reiterated the basic etiquettes of how to behave at a party. The children were dressed according to the theme and used various props to showcase their speaking skills in the birthday show and tell activity.

Bodily kinaesthetic Event- Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Keeping this in mind, the bodily-Kinaesthetic event was organized on the virtual platform on 14th August 2021. The kids performed warm up exercises followed by a fun PT drill wherein they used pompoms made of tricolor paper to showcase their ability to control body movements along with the props.

Independence Day - Children of KG - A conducted the first virtual assembly of the session on Independence Day and explained the true meaning and importance of ‘independence’. This year, we celebrated the 75th Independence Day wherein children dressed up in anyone of the colors of our Indian flag. Later, the children made a kite using an old newspaper and painted it in tricolors of our Indian flag.

Janmashtami-It is always essential that the kids should be taught the basic rituals and
traditions. The students of KG B hosted a special assembly on the eve of ‘Janmashtami’. Children were briefed on the significance of this Hindu festival and they enjoyed making a flute craft in their visual art session along with the educator.
