Jubilant January

​This month, children explored the theme “Continents” through the fortnight story “Rohan and the Flying Carpet.” The journey began with the introduction of Pangea, helping children understand that long ago, all land was joined together as one big landmass.
Using a globe and world map, children learnt about the seven continents and five oceans, reinforced through songs, discussions, and visuals. As Rohan travelled the world, children discovered that Africa is home to wild animals like lions and elephants, Europe has beautiful castles and snowy mountains, and North America and South America have forests, mountains, and many animals and colourful birds.
The adventure continued to Antarctica, where children learnt about its icy climate and animals like penguins and seals, and to Australia, where they explored the iconic Sydney Opera House. The month concluded with an interactive recap using a globe, allowing children to revisit the continents and share what they remembered. This engaging approach helped children develop curiosity, global awareness, and a love for learning about our beautiful planet. 

Naturalistic Intelligence
The children participated in an engaging discussion on animals and their habitats, beginning with identifying where different animals live and understanding the meaning of a habitat. They learnt how climate change affects animals and their homes, such as the impact of melting ice on polar bears. The children explored the importance of being kind to animals and discussed simple, practical ways to help them, including providing food, water, and shelter. These sessions helped develop empathy, awareness, and a sense of responsibility towards animals and the environment.

Verbal Linguistic Intelligence English
Early reading experiences play a crucial role in supporting the development of confident and independent readers. During these sessions, students were introduced to words with vowel digraphs and consonant blends such as ‘oo’, ‘cl’, ‘bl’, ‘gl’, ‘sl’, and ‘fl’, and later ‘br’, ‘cr’, ‘fr’, ‘gr’, ‘pr’, and ‘dr’, through guided and interactive learning experiences.
Children were encouraged to recognise and read a few sight words. They also practised reading ‘u’ vowel CVC words from the English Reader, which helped strengthen their phonetic awareness and decoding skills.
Through storytelling, PPTs, flashcards, and repeated reading and writing practice, learners gradually built confidence in blending sounds and reading words independently. These activities enhanced vocabulary, listening skills, and reading fluency, while fostering a positive interest in reading within the classroom.

Verbal Linguistic Intelligence -Hindi
 
Our little Hindi learners embarked on a joyful journey of exploring new vyanjans through interactive activities, stories, and workbook exercises.
The children were introduced to the vyanjan ‘ढ़’, learning its formation and related vocabulary words through an interesting story and writing practice. They also learnt the vyanjan ‘ज’ and ‘ह’, practising pronunciation and word association through fun oral and written exercises.
Moving ahead, the children explored the vyanjan ‘ण’, followed by the introduction of ‘त्र’. Each new sound was reinforced through tracing, word-building, and picture-based vocabulary enrichment activities.
Finally, the session concluded with the introduction of the vyanjan ‘ञ’, where children practised its formation and learnt related words through engaging storytelling.
Each activity helped strengthen their understanding of Hindi letters and sounds while making learning enjoyable and meaningful. Through these sessions, our young learners are developing confidence, fluency, and a growing love for the Hindi language!

​Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

In January, children enthusiastically participated in a variety of activities designed to strengthen their math skills.

• They practised writing Backward counting from 50 to 1, helping to enhance their number sense.
• Addition concepts were consolidated using concrete objects and notebook work, enabling students to visualise sums clearly.
• To build spatial awareness, the concepts of left and right were introduced through the use of hand gloves and engaging activities.
• Subtraction was introduced playfully through the “Smash The Clay” activity, followed by hands-on materials and workbook tasks to strengthen understanding. Subtraction skills were further reinforced with a lively subtraction song, workbook exercises, and picture-based worksheets focusing on both horizontal and vertical subtraction.

Additional SHIN activities, including the “Adventure Counting” worksheet, helped develop essential skills such as number recognition, counting accuracy, logical thinking, focus, and problem-solving, making mathematics learning fun, interactive, and meaningful for the children.

Visual-Spatial Intelligence
Our month was filled with exciting learning experiences!
 
To celebrate the spirit of Republic Day, children were shown a video that helped them understand the significance of this special occasion. They enjoyed expressing their creativity by making a tricoloured lotus, proudly representing our national flag.
In connection with International Zebra Day, children were introduced to the fascinating world of zebras. Through the Zebra Craft activity, they created their own black-and-white striped zebras, enhancing their fine motor skills while learning interesting facts about this unique animal.
Continuing our journey of exploration, children participated in the Activity – “Continents on My Flying Carpet.” They enthusiastically designed their own Continental Carpets, identifying and decorating different continents, which sparked their curiosity about the world around them.
It was truly a month of creativity, learning, and joyful discovery!

Clay Modelling
Pottery Fun – Crafting the Spirit of the Nation!
This month, our young artists explored their creativity through a Pottery activity integrated with the Republic Day theme. Children used clay moulds to create an outline map of India, celebrating the unity and diversity of our country.
They also crafted the Ashoka Chakra using clay, carefully shaping all 24 spokes — a wonderful way to understand its meaning and importance on our national flag.
During the activity, the educator engaged the learners in a discussion about the significance of Republic Day, the symbols of the national flag, and how they represent our country’s values.
It was a hands-on experience that beautifully blended art, learning, and patriotism, allowing children to express national pride through their creative clay work.
 

Musical Intelligence
Indian Music
During the month of January, students actively practised singing songs in preparation for the upcoming annual production VERVE 5.0. The rehearsals focused on voice modulation, rhythm, and expressive singing to bring energy and emotion to each performance. 

Western Music
During January, students practised songs for VERVE 5.0 with great enthusiasm, enhancing their vocal skills and stage presence. Emphasis was placed on rhythm, pitch accuracy, and expression. The practice sessions encouraged confidence, coordination, and teamwork.
 

Western Dance
During the month of January, students actively practised dance performances in preparation for the upcoming annual production VERVE 5.0. The rehearsals focused on coordination, rhythm, expressions, and stage movements to bring energy, grace, and emotion to each performance.

Bodily Kinaesthetic
During the month of January, students actively participated in indigenous games
such as Posham Pa. Each session began with warm-up exercises, which helped
prepare the students for physical activity. These sessions promoted physical
coordination, alertness, and teamwork, while students engaged with enthusiasm
and joy.​

Skating
Skating is a dynamic and enriching activity that offers children a wide range of physical, social, and developmental benefits. It strengthens muscles, enhances balance and coordination, and promotes overall physical fitness. Beyond these physical gains, skating encourages meaningful connections with friends and family, making it a joyful and engaging activity for children all year long. It also plays a key role in sharpening balance and developing essential motor skills.
Throughout this month, children actively worked on advancing their skating abilities through structured and exciting activities. By practising walking and sliding on skates, they built confidence, improved stability, and gained greater control and balance.

EYP Play Area
Play is at the heart of early learning. In the play area, children explore, imagine, and discover through joyful, self-directed experiences. These playful interactions foster creativity, confidence, and independence, nurturing a lifelong love for learning. The little ones thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor time—swinging high, playing in the sand, and filling every moment with fun, laughter, and discovery.

The children practised their dialogues for the annual production VERVE 5.0, learning to speak with expression and confidence.
 

Story Telling
Our children enjoyed an engaging storytelling session with the story “Where the Forest Meets the Sea,” set in Australia. They listened attentively and learned about the different animals found there, their habitats, and the rainforests of Australia. The session encouraged imagination, listening skills, and strengthened their appreciation for nature.

Imaginarium
“In the Imaginarium, the mind is free to wander and wonder.”
In this imaginative space, children brought their creativity to life while preparing nutritious meals at the kitchen station. Along the way, they discovered the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and supporting one another in a collaborative environment. Over the following weeks, they explored various stations through free play, following their curiosity and pursuing their own interests. Additionally, the children delved into the world of road signs, learning about traffic safety and the meaning of different signs, all while sharpening their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

EYP 3D Parent Assembly
Roar for Nature – The Lion’s Tale
EYP 3D presented a vibrant and meaningful parent assembly titled “Roar for Nature – The Lion’s Tale”, centered around SDG 15: Life on Land. Through an ​engaging jungle narrative, our young learners highlighted the importance of protecting wildlife and respecting nature.
The assembly came alive with expressive dialogues, music, movement, and moments of humour, as animals from the forests of Gir and the Savanna joined hands to protect their shared home. Guided by Karadi the Bear, the children beautifully conveyed the message that caring for nature and working together can create a lasting impact.
The performance served as a gentle yet powerful reminder that every living being plays an important role in our ecosystem, and even small actions can help protect life on land. It was truly a proud moment to witness our little eco-warriors roar aloud for nature with confidence, compassion, and joy.

Republic Day Celebration
The children were made aware of Republic Day through an engaging video shared by the educator. They learnt, in a simple and age-appropriate manner, that Republic Day is celebrated to mark the day when India’s Constitution came into effect, and that on this day the national flag is unfurled, symbolising the freedom achieved by our nation.
To reinforce their learning, the children participated in a creative Tri-colour Lotus activity, where they pasted cut-outs of saffron, white, and green to create a lotus. This hands-on activity helped them connect with the significance of the day, developing fine motor skills while fostering a sense of pride and respect for national symbols.
The session was a meaningful blend of learning and creativity, allowing children to celebrate Republic Day with joy and enthusiasm.
 

Math week
Math Week was thoughtfully planned to help young learners of EYP 3 understand key mathematical concepts through fun, hands-on activities.
Through Mystery Pyramid, children explored the concept of addition by combining numbers in an engaging and meaningful way. The activity “Tick-Tock Time Fun!” helped learners develop an understanding of the concept of time, encouraging them to recognise and relate time to daily routines.
With Bowling – Knock Down & Count, children actively explored subtraction by counting objects taken away, strengthening their number sense and problem-solving skills.
These activities transformed maths learning into an enjoyable experience, promoting active participation, logical thinking, and confidence, while making abstract concepts easier to understand through play.

Montessori Activities
Knobless Cylinders
Children worked with the Knobless Cylinders to refine their fine motor movements, concentration, and hand–eye coordination. By carefully comparing and arranging the cylinders, they developed visual perception of dimensions such as height and diameter.
Blue Scheme
Through the Blue Scheme material, children were introduced to reading blends.
They learnt that when two consonants appear together in a word, the sounds
must be blended smoothly rather than pronounced separately.

LEAP
Pattern and Shape Matching
In this LEAP activity, children participated in pattern and shape matching tasks that enhanced their problem-solving skills and visual perception. Through careful observation, children identified colours, shapes, and patterns, applying logical thinking, reasoning, and spatial awareness.
 
The activity encouraged children to explore shape orientation, rotation, and alignment as they arranged coloured shapes to complete patterns accurately. With guided support, children practiced matching both colour and shape, strengthening their ability to analyse patterns and improve visual–spatial understanding.
 
This hands-on activity supported the development of observation skills and confident problem-solving in an engaging and meaningful way.
