Dear Parent, (s) Greetings! After the fun-filled summer break, children were welcomed back to yet another month of learning and growing. Here is a concise overview of activities done by the students in the month of July 2021. Recapitulation of previously covered themes Recap has proven to be beneficial for our young learners. Therefore, the educator recapitulated the concept of sense organs, internal and external body parts through a quiz, rhymes and PPT. Theme 1: Dog Pets can serve different purposes for children. They increase opportunities for us to go outside and exercise while taking them out for a walk. Dogs are good companions for human beings and make the home environment quite lively. • Children/Educators who have pet dogs were encouraged to bring their dogs in the virtual session and introduce it to the other children. • Different breeds of dogs were introduced to the children through a video and PPT. • Discussion about their home, babies, body parts was also held during the sessions. Theme 2: Out in the Garden Children learn new skills, have fun, play and develop self-confidence by spending time in the garden tending to plants and growing their own food. Most children love digging in the soil, getting dirty, creating things and watching plants grow.
Universal Value Children were explained the significance of the Universal Value – ‘I am Honest’ as part of our annual theme, ‘So Hum’. They were enlightened about the fact that honesty is not just about telling the truth. It's about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want and what you need to live your most authentic life. Honesty promotes openness, empowers us and enables us to develop consistency in how we present the facts.Children were shown a short story, ‘I am Honest’ .They were encouraged to share their thoughts on being honest to others. Naturalistic Intelligence Verbal Linguistic Intelligence – English Children have built a strong foundation for themselves by learning the phonetic sounds of letters from ‘a-z’ along with their related vocabulary words. They also practiced the formations of letters Ii, Jj, Kk and L l through air tracing and writing. Children have become quite independent in reading the cvc words. Three letter words along with various sight words helped the students in reading short sentences as well. Students took immense pleasure while reading short sentences and going a level up by practicing to read vowel ‘a’ story through a PPT. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence – Hindi बच्चों का हिंदी सीखना उतना ही अनिवार्य है जितना कि अंग्रेजी l इसलिए जुलाई के माह में बच्चों को स्वर गीत, कहानी और कविता के माध्यम से स्वरों (ओ,औ,ए और ऐ) का परिचय दिया गया। साथ ही लिखित अभ्यास द्वारा और कुछ चीज़ें दिखाकर इनकी पहचान भी कराई गयी। बच्चों ने बड़े उत्साह के साथ स्वरों (उ, ऊ, अ) की पुनरावृति के लिए सुंदर फ्लैशकार्ड बनाकर कक्षा में सबको प्रस्तुत किए । Logical Mathematical Intelligence Stimulation of logical-mathematical intelligence promotes cognitive development, especially in terms of logical thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, and concentration. The children were introduced to the concept of ‘Backward Counting’ from numbers 15 to 1 through number cards and a ‘Ruler activity’. They also attempted related fun worksheets in their Math workbook. They practiced oral counting from 1 – 80 through a fun song. Children reiterated the concept of ones-tens through notebook worksheets. They were introduced to a Number Song and were excited to learn to write number names from ‘One to Three’ through play dough and wheat flour tracing activity. They also revisited the concepts of 2D and 3D shapes and undertook interesting activities like making Shapes collage with newspaper strips/thread and 3d shapes using play dough. Children made different figures from shin edu kit using different shapes such as trapezium and triangle Visual-Spatial Intelligence Art is a creative therapy that uses all disciplines of art; visual movements, imagination skills, aesthetic skills, and finger dexterity. Children explored their aesthetic skills with the help of various colouring and craft activities.
Musical Intelligence Indian Music Music plays a key role in the overall development of the students hence it is being carried out as a significant compponent of the online sessions as well. Children attempted the sangeet 4 all activities, sang the ‘rain song’ , practiced the sounds around us and ‘गुरु वंदना’ as a part of Indian music lessons. Western Music “Fun, Fabulous, Uplifting, Magical. These are just a few words that describe music together. Our music sessions provide a fun, comfortable environment for children and strengthen their memory. Children practiced singing the song, ‘Mercy is falling’ and revised the songs ’God’s love and ‘Dididi dong’ to the tunes of a guitar. Dance Dance is a way for kids to express their creativity, imagination, and emotions. Physical fitness is just one of the many benefits of dance that can enhance the child's life in so many ways. During the month, the children did warmup exercises and were thrilled to dance to the tune of "I am so happy" song. Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence techniques improve a child's ability to process information physically through hand and body movement. Animal Tabata exercises (donkey, kangaroo, flamingo, crab, etc.) were attempted by the children in the first week followed by underwater sea animal exercises (crab, fish, dolphin etc.) in the second week. Baby shark warm up exercises and workouts were performed during the third week and a week later, the children enjoyed practicing some yoga poses like cat pose, rock pose, dog pose, cobra pose, and the mountain pose to build upon their muscular and mental strength as per the kids yoga video book. Drama Drama helps develop feelings in a healthy way, encourages children to think and express themselves independently. Children listened and enacted the stories of ‘एक शैतान बच्चा’, ‘घमंडी मोर’, ‘चालाक खरगोश’ this month with appropriate expressions and voice modulation. Storytelling Storytelling helps improve children’s language skills, instills a love for reading, stirs their imagination, and teaches moral values. Keeping this view in mind, ‘A baby hornbill learns to fly’ was the first story narrated this month which emphasized the importance of being independent in one’s life through the story of a bird. It was followed by a hornbill-making activity using hand and foot impressions in the second week. Children enjoyed listening to the story of “Our Useful plants’ as per the ongoing theme of the month in the following week. Interpersonal Intelligence Birthday celebration & other events Birthday Celebrations - Birthday brings joy and frolic to one and all. However, it comes with a responsibility to train the children about social grace and courtesy too. Hence to reiterate the rules and etiquettes of a social gathering, a thematical virtual birthday party was organized on 30th of July. The students dressed themselves as ‘Different types of trees’ and displayed a variety of props while speaking a few lines on the given theme. Project Hariyali - The educators demonstrated the process to plant 'Mint' during the class. The educator explained the benefits of planting this medicinal herb. The children observed and attempted it along with the educator. They pledged to take care of their ‘Green Friend’ and were encouraged to create a food product with its leaves later. Summer Fruit Festival - The event was all about our little ones exploring their aesthetic and spatial skills with the help of a MAZE activity and they truly enjoyed seeking the way out of the maze for their favourite toy car. This activity enhanced their skills of directions(Left, Right, U-Turn) and estimations (near and far). They created this maze by drawing a random zig-zag path on a blank sheet and decorated it by making various buildings on the side like school, hospital etc. and colouring them.Visual Spatial Event - The event was all about our little ones exploring their aesthetic and spatial skills with the help of a MAZE activity and they truly enjoyed seeking the way out of the maze for their favourite toy car.
