Naturalistic Intelligence ‘Preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.’ - Carl Sagan. With this beautiful thought, the students were apprised of the importance of environmental protection and their responsibility for preserving our planet.
Verbal Linguisitic Intelligence - English Encouraging young children to engage in reading helps them develop into confident and independent learners. Students were guided and encouraged to recognize sight words and the names of various fruits. Through interactive exercises, they were prompted to read sight words and assemble a word wall, fostering independent reading within the classroom. Furthermore, they practiced reading and writing short sentences, grasping the concepts of ‘This’ and ‘That’, and writing rhyming words within the ‘o’ family. As we approach the culmination of the school year, our kindergarteners are immersed in comprehending letters, sounds, and words. Their excitement grows as they take their initial strides toward reading short sentences, expanding their vocabulary with each new word learned. They were introduced to words with digraphs and blends sounds such as ‘ch’, ‘sh’, ‘ee’, ‘oo’, ‘cl’, ‘bl’, ‘fl’, and later ‘br’, ‘cr’, ‘fr’, ‘gr’, ‘pr’, ‘dr’, and ‘sl’. They practiced reading and writing. They also honed their reading prowess by practicing a few sight words. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence - Hindi जनवरी के महीने में छात्रों को गीत और कहानी के माध्यम से व्यंजन ढ़, ज, छ, ह, क्ष, त्र, ञ, और ण का परिचय कराया गया। साथ ही साथ दो अक्षरों से बनने वाले शब्दों का अभ्यास भी कराया गया। अध्यापिका जी ने व्यंजनों को कक्षा में दिखाया और इनसे बनने वाले शब्द भी सिखाये जैसे ज से जहाज, ज से जलेबी, छ से छाता, छ से छत्त, ह से हाथ, ह से हाथी। व्यंजन ‘क्ष’ का प्रयोग कक्षा शब्द में किया जाता है और व्यंजन ‘ण’ का प्रयोग बाण शब्द में किया जाता है। छात्रों को इन व्यंजनों से बनने वाले शब्द बताये गए अथवा व्यजनों का अभ्यास कार्य-पुस्तिका में कराया गया। फ़रवरी के महीने मे व्यंजनगीत और भीतिपत्र के माध्यम से व्यंजन ‘ज्ञ’ का परिचय दिया गया। अध्यापिका जी ने बच्चों को इस अक्षर से शुरू होने वाले अनेक नए शब्द सिखाये और साथ ही साथ बच्चों को भी कुछ और शब्दों को बताने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। सम्पूर्ण व्यंजन माला व दो व्यंजनों को जोड़कर उनको लिखने का अभ्यास कार्य-पुस्तिका में कराया गया। तीन व्यंजनों को जोड़कर उन शब्दों को पढ़ने का अभ्यास कार्य पुस्तिका द्वारा करवाया गया। Storytelling Storytelling promotes brain development and imagination in children. It also aids in language and emotional development while strengthening relationships. Keeping this in mind, children began the month with an activity based on the previous story, 'The Bad-Tempered Ladybug'. Later, in the first week of February, a new story, 'Scat the Cat', which emphasizes being true to oneself, was introduced. In the following week, a new story, 'ईली की कहानी', was narrated by the educator, explaining the journey of silk worms. And in the last week of the month, an activity was conducted based on the previous week’s story. Logical Mathematical Shakuntala Devi once said, 'Without mathematics, there's nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.'
Visual Spatial Intelligence Visual Art Visual-spatial intelligence encompasses various creative disciplines, including visual movements, imagination skills, aesthetic skills, and finger dexterity. During our Visual-Spatial sessions, children had the opportunity to explore their aesthetic skills through a range of colouring and craft activities. In the last week of January, learners coloured all seven continents of the world on a World map, which was related to the theme of the month. Coming to the month of February, learners created a beautiful African Necklace. In the second week of the month, all the children created a Penguin craft related to the continent of ‘Antarctica’. Later, in the following week, they found their way to enter the country of India in an Asian Maze. Finally, in the last week of the month, students made a beautiful Flip Book on the ‘Eight Wonders of The World’. Montessori Lab When the child has mastered the equilibrium, he needs to practice it through exercise, so that his sense of balance may be perfected. It is only logical that a child must walk if he is to do this. In the month of January - February children practiced the below given activities:
Interpersonal Intelligence Birthday celebration- Show & Tell Birthdays are days to have fun and celebrate. However, it is also a responsibility to learn about social behaviour and party etiquette. Keeping up this spirit, the birthdays of children born in January and February were celebrated on 29th February, Thursday, 2024 in the class. Show and Tell was conducted on the theme of the Eight Wonders of the World. Children carried an object or a picture and imparted knowledge about the related topic with their friends while patiently waiting for their turn and reiterated the basic etiquettes to be adopted while attending a birthday party. Events and Celebrations The children enthusiastically engaged in a virtual discussion about Republic Day, gaining insights into its significance and the process of framing the Indian Constitution. They also grasped the distinction between the ceremonial unfurling of the national flag by the President on Republic Day and its hoisting by the Prime Minister on Independence Day. Furthermore, the children were introduced to the festivities of Basant Panchami, a celebration marking the transition from winter to spring. They learned about the cultural traditions associated with this occasion, such as the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the custom of wearing yellow clothing, and the preparation of special yellow-themed dishes. This provided them with a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultural heritage of India. Math Week Math Week in KG is an exhilarating period brimming with exploration, discovery, and enjoyment! Throughout the week, our young learners will embark on a mathematical journey, uncovering the marvels of number names, after/before, patterns, and more. Each day promises new adventures through hands-on activities, games, and puzzles designed to ignite curiosity and develop essential math skills. From engaging in a match box activity of what comes after/ before/ in between; to playing a number name puzzle along with greater than/ less than finger printing game, every moment presents an opportunity for learning and growth. Through collaborative play and interactive experiences, students will not only build confidence in their mathematical abilities but also foster a love for learning. Math Week in KG transcends mere numerical understanding—it empowers young minds to view the world through a mathematical lens and revel in the joy of discovery. Let the mathematical adventures begin.
