Dear Parent(s) Greetings! Let us glance through the month of ‘Noble November. Theme: 'Aquatic Life' ‘Health to the oceans means health for us’ - Sylvia Earle Our goal for this month was to familiarize children with a wide variety of ocean-dwelling animals. The children explored the interconnectedness of everything in the sea and ocean, understanding how we, as humans, interact with it. They learned to care for and protect the ocean, while also gaining knowledge about the features of different sea animals. Naturalistic Intelligence“Reality whistles a different tune underwater” - Tom Robbins The world under the oceans has always fascinated kids as the never-ending water bodies are filled with various aquatic animals and plants that are unique, interesting, and mysterious. A little exposure to the aquatic world can teach the kids the importance of marine life.
Verbal Linguistic Intelligence –EnglishPromoting early engagement in reading is vital for fostering confidence and independence in young learners. We encouraged children to initiate their reading journey by focusing on sight words, such as away, saw, sleep, old, with, call, let, brown, by, after, help, yellow, their, wall, make, five, here, think, going, six. Our little learners grasped the concept of rhyming words, enhancing their reading comprehension, and writing skills through interactive worksheets. They also practiced reading CVC words with the vowels ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘í’, and ‘o’ to further strengthen their foundational reading abilities. Storytelling Storytelling promotes brain development and imagination in children. It also aids in language and emotional development while strengthening relationships. With this in mind, we began the month by narrating ‘The Tiny Seed’. Following the story, we engaged the children in a recapitulation of the steps of the seed's growth. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers. –Shakuntala Devi Here is an overview of our recent math sessions, covering a range of engaging activities to reinforce fundamental concepts:
Visual-Spatial Intelligence Visual-spatial intelligence is the ability to perceive, analyse, understand, store, and recall visual information. It encompasses various creative disciplines, including visual movements, imagination skills, aesthetic skills, and finger dexterity. During our Visual-Spatial sessions, learners learnt how to wrap a gift by using the old newspaper by beautifying it. Later, in the next session they enjoyed creating a ‘Silhouette Art’ to recap water animals. We ended our visual spatial for this month by creating a “Jelly Fish Scissors Craft. Musical Intelligence Music is the art form that combines rhythm and sound to form a functional melodic line. It transcends time, space, and culture. Indian Music Indian music often relies on melodic movement, where tones or musical notes create a single line of tune. During the month, children practiced the welcome song, vocal warm-ups, rhythm clapping, and Sangeet4All along with the educator. They also practiced singing the song ‘मन में दीप जलाएं,’ related to our auspicious occasion of ‘Diwali’. Western MusicExposing children to music during the early years ignites all areas of child development and skills. Our little Suncitizens practiced singing the song ‘Festival, festival, here they come.’ Additionally, they enjoyed singing the song ‘Deep under the sea’ to the tunes of the guitar, relating to our monthly theme. Bodily Kinaesthetic IntelligenceThe bodily kinaesthetic learning style is one of the eight types of learning styles defined in Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences. Movement and physical interaction can help children remember information better. To strengthen our students’ emotional intelligence, foster a strong team spirit, and make them skilled at sports, the educator taught our little champions various exercises, as mentioned below:
Interpersonal Intelligence Every child is super excited about their birthday. Keeping up this spirit, the birthdays of children born in the month of November were celebrated with their friends and teachers. A ‘Show and Tell’ activity took place based on the theme, ‘Aquatic world.’ Children came dressed as aquatic animals along with coordinated props for this much-awaited and loved event. They eagerly waited for their turns to share their knowledge with friends and reiterated the basic etiquette to be adopted while attending a birthday party. Montessori “We must accept adaptation as the basis upon which we can build a concept of education.” ― Dr. Maria Montessori In the month of November, children engaged in the following activities: · Colour Tablet Box 3 – (Sensorial Activity): This activity helped the children develop a sense of color discrimination and gain an understanding of primary and secondary colors. · Sandpaper Letters - Vyanjan- ‘ख’, ‘श’, ‘ग’, ‘म’, ‘भ’, ‘त’: It assisted the children in identifying the sound and the formation of the vyanjans through muscular and visual memory. Large Movable Alphabet Hindi Box: Children practiced creating two-letter words using the Large Movable Alphabet box. DanceDance promotes neurological development: When a child enjoys music and learns to dance to its rhythms, it stimulates their brain. This improves their cognitive abilities, as well as their neurological health. Dancing keeps them fit: It also helps improve their endurance, stamina, and energy. To enable our budding artists to enjoy the festivity, they learned to match their steps to a ‘Happy Diwali’ song. Drama Engaging in drama plays a positive role in nurturing emotional development, promoting independent thinking, and encouraging children to express themselves. This, in turn, enhances social awareness and cooperative consciousness in children. In line with this perspective, children participated in a storytelling session centred around four aquatic animals, conveying the important message of ‘Save the Ocean’. They further reinforced this message through physical activities, mimicking the movements of the Turtle, Sea horse, Shark, and Starfish while singing ‘We Go Underwater’. Additionally, they enacted a play emphasizing the importance of ‘Save Trees’. Skating Skating can be a fun-filled activity for children. It builds strength, balance, and coordination and also provides a great source of exercise. Skating is a wonderful way to spend time with friends or family, and it’s a sport that can be enjoyed all year round. There are many benefits of skating for kids, as it helps improve a child’s balance and coordination. During the month, children practiced the following skills while skating:
Clay Modelling Pottery is the perfect blend of science and art, where craftsmanship meets creativity. It gives young minds a sense of accomplishment and independence, as they learn to create something from scratch and see the fruits of their labor. This builds self-confidence and teaches them that they can do things independently. Under the integrated approach of learning, this month our sculptors crafted aquatic animals like fish, starfish, and turtles. To enjoy the festivity of Diwali, they also made a tealight holder. The fun didn’t end there; they also created a मुखौटा and तरबूज to reinforce the vyanjans म and त Imaginarium Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere. -Albert Einstein Children were able to arouse their inner Einstein and spread their wings of imagination to create and play pretend activities at various stations during the Imaginarium session. Additionally, they engaged in strengthening exercises at the play gym. EYP Play Area “Play is not just about having fun but about taking risks, experimenting, and testing boundaries.” -American Academy of Pediatrics Children primarily learn through play rather than formal instruction or disciplined study. More recently, the scientific establishment has recognized that free play is an essential and integral part of children's learning process. Children naturally love free play and interacting with their peers. They exercised their freedom of choice by engaging in activities such as playing on slides, swings, in the sandpit, on the trampoline, riding tricycles, and enjoying their other favorite spots in the EYP play area. Events and CelebrationsChildren’s Day celebration -2023In honor of Children's Day, the youngsters indulged in an enlightening celebration, delving into the significance of the day observed nationwide on November 14th. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately known as Chacha Nehru among children for his fondness towards them.
